Electric Vehicle Rebates

Electric vehicle (EV) rebates aim to increase EV adoption by making light-duty EVs more affordable for consumers. EV rebate programs can apply to the in-state purchase or lease of new or used EVs, including battery electric, fuel cell, and plug-in hybrid vehicles, as well as electric motorcycles in some states, each of which typically offer different rebate amounts ranging from $500 to $10,000. Depending on the state, some programs offer point-of-sale rebates, allowing eligible consumers to receive rebates instantly with the purchase or lease of an eligible vehicle, or rebates offered within a window of time after the purchase or lease of an eligible vehicle.

Eligible rebate recipients can include individuals, businesses, and governmental entities, and some states have additional rebates for low-income residents. State rebates can also be paired with federal tax credits to maximize incentives consumers receive.

The Oregon Clean Vehicle Rebate Program offers rebates for new and used EVs: up to $2,500 for new battery and plug-in hybrid EVs, $750 for new zero emission motorcycles, and for income-qualifying applicants, the Charge Ahead Rebate provides up to $7,500 for new and used EVs.

The Oregon Clean Vehicle Rebate offers up to $2,500 for the purchase of new battery electric vehicle or plug-in hybrid under $50,000. The Charge Ahead Rebate provides up to $5,000 for the purchase or lease of a new or used battery electric or plug-in hybrid vehicle to households making between $51,000 to $251,000, depending on the number of people living together.
