Indiana
Indiana has reduced net emissions by 21% from 1990 to 2022, with major emissions reductions from the electricity and industrial sectors. However, it still ranks 9th in the country for total emissions and 10th for energy use per capita, partly due to energy-intensive industries, including the manufacturing of 84% of all recreational vehicles sold in the nation. As both a top coal producer and consumer, the overwhelming majority of in-state electricity generation comes from natural gas and coal, supplemented further by coal imported from West Virginia, Kentucky, Illinois, and Wyoming.
